I grew up in San Pedro, California, was educated at Oberlin College and the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, and I now divide my time between Baraboo (near Madison), Wisconsin, and Los Angeles. My most recent novel Ghost Mother, a psychological ghost story that asks the question, Does the narrator live in a haunted house? Or is she losing touch with reality? was published by Union Square & Co. in 2024, and is available wherever books are sold (Ghost Mother at Barnes & Nobleon Amazon, at Bookshop.org, and on Audible.) My other novels include The Tracks of Angels and Self-Portrait with Ghosts

My short plays and monologues have been produced in New York, Boston, Madison, Los Angeles,  and Glasgow. I also write flash fiction, mostly based on the Disney Princesses at middle age. My travel stories tend to focus on culture, food, and drink, and I enjoy writing articles concerning women at midlife.

As a longtime teacher, writing coach, and editor, I am passionate about helping other writers achieve success.

I laugh hard and often and agree with Oscar Wilde that "Life is too important to be taken seriously."
